Exmouth and the Ocean Adventurers

Image
On our first day in Exmouth we rode across to the Big Prawn and then spent some time in the Ningaloo Discovery Centre Aquarium. We drove through town and then to the lighthouse. It’s a very different feel from other Pilbara towns here - think it is because of the naval base presence! The next day we went on a glass bottom boat tour. The boys were amazing jumping off the back of the boat and having a snorkel over all the coral of the Ningaloo reef. The ocean water was lovely and we saw lots of different types of fish and coral! An afternoon by the pool (the ocean water was warmer and quieter than the pool!) and the boys got to play with some kids at the playground. School holidays have hit and it is such a contrast to what we have been used to so far! Stopped in Roebourne for fuel and hot chips….a whole wall in the servo dedicated to selling cap and NERF guns! Another half hour and we made it to Karratha….similar to Port Hedland in feel….bit bigger. Very muggy and hot still. After set up we had a quick swim in the pool that felt like it had about 100 kids in! We found a nice tavern - The Tambrey - to have an air conditioned dinner in and then a movie started before bed. It rained through the night and for half the next day….everything we had was now muddy and wet! At least it was a cool relief. An indoor morning in the Jayco and then a supply run to the fanciest, most gourmet and expensive IGA we’ve ever been to. We also found a council run indoor play centre for the boys to get some beans out before having a drive to Dampier. An obligatory photo at the Red Dog statue, a play in the p...
